Announcements of Coming Events

Join us for fellowship and worship as we begin the season of Lent to prepare ourselves for Easter.

Tuesday, February 13, will be our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper at 6 p.m. in the fellowship building. We will celebrate "Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras" and conclude with burning the palm branches from last year's Palm Sunday to make the ashes for Ash Wednesday. We will also bury the "Alleluias" until Easter.

Wednesday, February 14 is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. We will receive ashes to remind us of our sinfulness and mortality but also our baptism into Jesus' death and resurrection. This year, we are adding a special noontime worship service and will receive ashes. Our evening worship service will be at 7 p.m. in the church. We will receive ashes and conclude with Holy Communion. There is no meal before the Ash Wednesday service.

The Wednesday Bible Study time has moved to 2:30 p.m. in the fellowship building and will meet during Lent. We are currently studying the book of Psalms.

The midweek Lenten service will be at 7 p.m.  in the sanctuary and a supper provided by committees will be at 6 p.m. in the fellowship building. We will hear from five local pastors on the theme of "Broken Places - Where Christ meets us in the broken places of our lives."

February 21 - "Broken Marriages" - The Rev. Kevin Conley, Interim pastor at Unity Presbyterian Church.

February 28 - "Broken Children" - The Rev. Susan Bame, Lutheran Chapel

March 7 - "Broken Promises" George Jones, lay preacher formerly from St. Paul's.

March 14 - "Broken Gifts" - The Rev. Perry Bradshaw, Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church

March 21 - "Broken Dreams" - The Rev. Don McCann, Third Creek Presbyterian Church.
